The Eyes Can Show You The Signs Of Stress

As we continue to react to the challenges we have in life, we start to develop these reactions into habits. Yes, we use the reactivity to challenges as a habitual response. This means we do the reactions without even knowing we are doing it.
It’s like being a robot just doing something really bad but never being responsible for the consequences. And this is true of people who are stressed most of the time. They are this way because of the habitualizing of the stress reaction making them think and feel that the stress is outside of them and therefore they are not responsible for it.
This is a very dangerous situation and can lead to workplace problems, accidents and even death. Most fatal accidents with human error at their base are from this situation of the stress reactions becoming habitual.
Before we get to this stage we go through three stages of stress reactions.
The first is where we are stressed and we know it. We can still do something to control the reactions by diverting our attention or going off to do something different like some relaxation or yoga or some other activity that changes the physiological response and therefore changes the acute stress.
You can recognise this type by a glazed look in their eyes, as if they were about to burst into tears. Probably better they did just that.
The second type of stress is where the reaction is now deeper than before and is affecting just one half of the brain. At this stage the distortion created between the two hemispheres is enough to give a person two views of the same thing and two different ways of processing the information. Things become distorted and a temporary dyslexia occurs.
This second type occurs when the first acute type continues to the point where the person cannot resolve it and the stress reaction deepens through lack of appropriate resources.
The person may even bounce in and out of stress for no obvious reason and becomes very unpredictable. Relationships, work, even social or what would have been pleasurable experiences before, become filled with stressful outbursts.
This type can be identified by one iris being higher than the other. This shows as white showing under one eye more than the other.
The third type is the most dangerous. This is where the person has become so preoccupied with the stressful event that it takes over their thinking totally. All their actions and thoughts are around surviving the stressful event and they usually come to the understanding that it will never change. It is here they start to make the wrong decisions about their life and may choose to end it.
This type can be identified by the white of the eye showing in both irises. If you are trying to conduct a conversation with someone with the whites showing under both eyes, respectfully decline and make an appointment for another time. Even if you stayed to talk, they would not hear what you say. They would only respond to what they think they hear you say.
Try someone else or come back at a later time. The Japanese call this the Sanpaku eye and is considered someone to stay away from. They are not only unpredictable but you never know when all the suppressed stress can release itself and do real damage.
These people must take time off to resolve the old stresses or it will destroy them.
So the next time you look in the mirror, pay more attention to how your eyes look, it could save your or someone else’s life.
I hope this shed some more light in your direction and helps you to start to think more about how you perceive as a possible source of stress and not to believe everything you see either.
Take care

Contributor's Note

Thought you would like some practical way to identify if the person you are talking to was really stressed and if so what level of stress they are up to. Stay away from the second two stages if possible. Enjoy
